Traveling backpack - internal frame or not??
A friend gave me an old travel backpack of theirs, but it doesn't have an internal frame - it's basically just a big canvass bag, although it does have the belt that goes around my waist, and a couple side-pouches.
I'm planning on doing some travel, hopefully to India, soon. I wouldn't be needing to bring a ton of stuff, because it's not like I'd be camping and hiking...I'd just need to bring the basic travel stuff for clothes, toiletries, etc
Is this bag okay for that?
Someone else told me that it will kill my back if I'm going to travel with it for a month, and that I should get one with an internal frame...
..I'd love to, but they're expensive, so if I can put that money towards my trip instead of a back-pack I don't need, that would be great.

You should definitely get a bag with an internal frame. Your friend is right.. it will kill your back. I know they seem expensive, but you be wishing you had made the investment if you don't. See if you can get one second hand from craigslist or ebay. Maybe save a few dollars that way... but I would highly recommend you get one with a frame.
